Hopewell Borough, NJ Located a few miles to the northwest of Princeton, the small borough of Hopewell still offers the same historic small-town charm that it has for centuries. Seated in the foothills of the Sourland Mountains, the Borough of Hopewell, founded in 1688, is a charming village of colonial and Victorian houses and quiet, tree-lined streets. First incorporated in 1891 from portions of the surrounding Hopewell Township, this community of 2,000 inhabitants is known for its historic homes along tree-lined streets and its historic downtown, making it a welcome retreat for residents while providing easy access to larger cities like New York City and Philadelphia.

History is a running theme in the Borough of Hopewell, with the Hopewell Museum, historic railroad station, and other numerous well-preserved structures giving history buffs plenty to enjoy.
